Job Description
Empowering Support Services is a Day Program and respite service for individuals with special needs located on the Hamilton Mountain. At Empowering, we offer a variety of innovative activities that challenge our clients to get involved in the local community, develop essential life skills that promote independence, and encourage opportunities for social and academic growth.
Job Responsibilities Include:
• Personal care
• Planning and engaging clients in a variety of educational tasks, arts and crafts activities, and life
skills practice
• Providing support to clients in the areas of social skills, communication and preferred
recreational activities
• Accompanying clients on various community outings
Requirements & Prerequisites
Successful Candidates must possess the following skills/qualifications:
• Self-motivated learner
• Encouraging, engaging, and positive attitude
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Behaviour management
• Experience working in the developmental services sector
• Diploma in Developmental Support, Social Services, or a similar program is an asset but not a requirement
• Safe Management’s Crisis Intervention Program Certified (successful applicants will be sent for training)
• Standard First Aid
• Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
Availability Requirements:
• In addition to our day program, Empowering also offers respite opportunities and therefore candidates must be available to work days, evenings and weekends.
