Job Summary:

Ruby Tuesday is a high-volume, family-orientated restaurant with a large outdoor patio on Clifton Hill. The ideal candidate must have a total understanding of restaurant operations and is preferred to have either run or owned a restaurant previously.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for helping to oversee the operations of the Ruby Tuesday business unit and providing support and guidance to all supervisors, hosts, servers, food runners, dishwashers, cooks, and support staff. The Assistant Manager must ensure operational standards are met, maintained, and improved upon, as needed, and that customer satisfaction is consistently achieved.

Responsibilities:

OPERATIONS

  • Direct and control the day-to-day operations of the business unit;
  • Maintain profitability of business unit with an understanding of financial reports, inclusive of profit and loss reports, inventory costs (food, beverage, utility, and supply), and labour costs;
  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure all regularly offered items are available for customers;
  • Ensure strict inventory controls on all products, which will include counting inventory, auditing, and spot checking;
  • Maintain strict cost controls to minimize loss;
  • Ensure diligent cash and point-of-sale controls and adhere to strict cash management procedures;
  • Schedule labour to align with business sales levels and operational needs;
  • Ensure staff keep sales and work counters clean and tidy during and between customers;
  • Correct unsafe practices or conditions; and
  • Remain current with legislation to ensure compliance with food handling and alcohol sales.

SALES

  • Encourage a fun and safe atmosphere for customers;
  • Organize promotional activities and events for the business unit to drive sales;
  • Knowledge of entire restaurant and bar offerings; and
  • Knowledgeable of products and services offered throughout the entire property in other business units.

MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee productivity, task execution, and customer service of all employees;
  • Evaluate all employees to provide timely training, coaching, feedback, and correction.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork and reporting;
  • Educate and train employees to meet all company standards and safety guidelines;
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and friendly attitude towards customers and resolve customer complaints and disputes;
  • Ensure open lines of communication with General Manager; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Niagara Clifton Group Operations.

Requirements & Prerequisites

Experience

  • 3+ years of restaurant management experience or an equivalent, required.
  • Experience in food service, customer service, or a restaurant environment, required.
  • Experience with controlling financial inputs and outputs, required.
  • Minimum 1-year supervisory experience directing work and training employees, or an equivalent, preferred.

Knowledge

  • High school diploma, required.
  • Smart Serve Certificate, required.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Food Handling Certificate, preferred.
