Job Description

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Worker / DZ Driver enhances the dignity and quality of life for our clients, visitors, staff and donors by assisting in the day to day operation of the Warehouse and in performing driving duties on an as needed basis for the timely pick up and delivery of donations, always ensuring efficient and careful handling to maximize the highest quality.

 

  • General warehouse work for our Emergency Food / Clothing Program
  • Receive donations and assist in the organization of the warehouse
  • Stock shelves in the Venture Centre
  • Interact with clients, visitors, staff and donors
  • Drive DZ Truck for pick up and deliveries
  • Ability to lift heavy or awkward items
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity with a demonstrated knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, substance use/addictions and developmental disabilities

Requirements & Prerequisites

Qualifications

  • Applicants will require professionalism and excellent communication skills
  • Responsibilities will include direct client contact and aspects of indirect service necessary for the comfort and safety of individuals accessing shelter services
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt in a fast paced and changing work environment
  • Hospitable in dealings with clients/public / volunteers / staff, and other key stakeholders
  • Available and responsive to the needs of others
  • Respectful and compassionate demeanor
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential with the addition of answering telephone enquires at the Warehouse
  • CPR Certificate (or willingness to be certified) will also be required
  • Minimum Grade 12 education and / or 1 year experience in related field
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
  • Ability to operate a Fork Lift is considered an asset
  • DZ License is also required
  • Hours of work: Monday through Friday, with availability on weekends as needed
