Job Description
The employer is looking for a hardworking and reliable Payroll Administrator to work in their Finance Department.
The ideal candidate will be a flexible team player who is able to work efficiently and independently. The employer is willing to train the right candidate who possesses the necessary skill set and is a good fit for the company.
Wage: $50,000/year
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing and processing payroll (including new hire setup, adjustments to existing employees and terminations/ROE remittance)
- Responsible for calculating and reporting remittances (including WSIB, garnishments, EHT, etc.)
- Conduct year end processes – reconciliations, taxable benefits, filing tax forms with the CRA (ex T4, T4A, T2200, T5018, etc.)
- Ability to perform calculations and analysis to support decision making.
- Ability to problem solve and answer any regulatory body/government questions/request/audits (i.e., requests from the Canada Revenue Agency).
- Capacity to conduct long term system conversions and make process improvements (including helping update bonus structure, termination, and new hire processes).
- Ad hoc requests as required

Requirements & Prerequisites
- Must have technical background (understand payroll legislation and employment standards in Ontario as they relate to payroll)
- Payroll HR type legislative
- Strong ability to identify issues and bring to the attention of the Manager
- Basic to intermediate excel knowledge with a willingness to advance skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to prioritize, plan and multi-task
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a team
- Flexibility to adjust hours to meet company needs – occasional overtime may be required
- Education: Completed payroll course at the College Level
- Experience: Two years Payroll experience
- Candidates MUST have either payroll education, background, or experience to be considered
