We are seeking a Youth Justice Worker to supervise and care for male youth between the ages of 12 – 18, in a 24-hour secure custodial youth justice facility for youth in conflict with the law located in Hamilton. In this role, you will be dealing with Law Enforcement, Correctional Officer, Court Officer, Court Escort as well as Constable or Special Constable
You will attend to the physical and emotional needs of youth in conflict with the law, through individual and group recreational and cognitive programming, mentorship, and advocacy on behalf of each youth.

Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of a Youth Justice Worker include, but are not limited to:
- Supervision and Care of Youth (Resident).
- Carrying Out Therapeutic Programming.
- Maintaining Safety and Security of Building and Equipment.
- Liaise with Internal/External Team Members, Community Agencies including Police, Court and Probation Services, Support Services, and Volunteers.
- Completing Assigned Administrative Duties.
The Person
The key skills and qualities of a Youth Justice Worker are:
- You have successfully completed post-secondary education from a college/university of recognized standing in the Human Services field plus one year of recent relevant work experience OR a recognized secondary school diploma with supplementary courses in human behaviour plus two years of relevant work experience.
- Have availability to work on-call hours of work which regularly fall within normal business hours (24×7 operations); evening, weekend, rotational shifts and holiday hours may be required based on operational needs.
- Provide and maintain an acceptable Criminal/Vulnerable Sector Record and Health Assessment.
- A valid Class G driver’s license with a proven acceptable driving record.
- Good listening and report writing ability.
- Effective and consistent communication with staff and management.
- Understanding and ability to implement Cognitive Based Programs.
- Modelling and reinforcing clear alternatives to antisocial styles of thinking, feeling, and acting and take advantage of spontaneous teachable moments.
- Attention to detail required for accuracy and quality control procedures
- Continuously and effectively building relationships with other Community Service providers.
