Environmental Aide Inpatient Rooms - Satellite Health Facility
Job Description
- Cleaning and maintaining areas as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
- Collect and dispose of trash following approved waste procedures of garbage and biomedical waste.
- Dust and damp mops floors following approved procedures.
- High dust and also wipe furniture. Report any spots/stains.
- Move equipment and furniture for proper cleaning and place furniture back in correct placement.
- Clean assigned areas with the use of assigned tools, supplies and equipment.
- Sanitize all surfaces with the focus on disinfection and cleaning.
- Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Cleaning of isolation rooms following isolation cleaning procedures
- Soiled and clean linen handling.
- May be required to clean meeting and conference rooms, ensuring compliance to room set-up requirements.
- Changing cubicle curtains, as required.
- Vacuuming of carpets
- Glass and interior window cleaning removing finger prints
- May be required to use some small auto-scrubbers, burnishing equipment wearing the appropriate PPE.
- Check all main areas, lobbies, stairwells, elevators/escalators and mezzanines and clean as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident and personnel information.
- Maintain a safe environment at all times (e.g. use of wet floor signs).
- Perform duties according to health and safety guidelines.
- Report all injuries and hazards to the supervisor immediately.
- Responding to emergency cleanups as required.
- Restock single unit dispensers containing soap, towels, toilet tissue
- In some washrooms, replace disposable sharps container, as required.
- Check and replenishment of hand sanitizer in approved areas
- Strip, wash and make beds; collect and fold linen.
- Perform pre-use inspection on any and all equipment prior to use. Reports any noticeable maintenance problems or safety hazards to Housekeeping Supervisor
- Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor; operate the compactor and be responsible for cleaning the compactor on regular basis.
Requirements & Prerequisites
Qualifications:
- Previous housekeeping/custodian experience is an asset.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job. Lift approximately up to 20 pounds.
- Vaccination Status Required
Completion of Pre-Placement Immunization Form Or Copy of Lab Result

This satellite health facility will accommodate patients who no longer require hospital care, but who need healthcare support until they transition to another location in the community.
