Job Description

De Mazenod Door Outreach, a ministry of St. Patrick Catholic Church located in Inner-City Hamilton is currently seeking two skilled and confident individuals to be Food Prep and Kitchen Support Workers/Kitchen Helpers. These positions are to provide support to staff and volunteers working within a fast paced Outreach commercial kitchen setting, preparing meals for marginalized and impoverished individuals. Candidates must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends. If you have experience in the food industry, we urge you to apply.


Requirements & Prerequisites

Responsibilities:
• Assist with set up and running of a fast paced outreach kitchen
• Assisting with preparation of meals twice daily
• Breaking down and packaging of items necessary
• Assisting with daily clean up of kitchen and preparation for next day
• Complete documentation as required
• Follow policies and procedures of the Parish and Diocese of Hamilton ie. Confidentiality etc.
• To attend and complete all necessary training as required by position

Qualifications Required:
• Work or education in the field of food services is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with a diverse population
• Understanding the importance of processing times, customer service, organization & flexibility
• Current Food Handlers certificate is preferred
• Current Judicial Matters and Criminal Record Check will be required
• Ability to work independently and/or within a team setting
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb, bend etc.
• Ability to follow direction
• Ability and willingness to adapt to changing environments/situations
• Volunteer experience is desirable

Job Type – One – 12 Week Temporary Contract – Full Time, 35 Hours and One – 8 Week Temporary Contract – Full Time, 35 Hours
Location – Hamilton Centre

As this is a Summer Employment Program opportunity, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment, be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred and be legally entitled to work in Canada; to apply. Days and hours to be determined. Candidate must be willing to work alternate days and weekends.
