Job Description
De Mazenod Door Outreach, a registered charitable non-profit organization and ministry of St. Patrick Catholic Church located in Inner-City Hamilton is currently seeking a skilled and confident individual for the position of Outreach Kitchen Team Lead. This position is to provide support to staff and volunteers working within a fast paced commercial kitchen setting, preparing meals for marginalized and impoverished individuals. Description of Position
To work along side staff, volunteers and students as well as to oversee the daily running of the De Mazenod Door Kitchen
Structure
Reports to Outreach Coordinator and Executive Director/CEO
Requirements & Prerequisites
Responsibilities
• Understanding the importance of processing times, customer service, organization & flexibility
• Preparation and overseeing of meals twice daily
• Daily set up of Outreach kitchen
• Weekly purchasing and pick-up of supplies
• Clean outreach room at end of day, daily
• Acts as staff lead
• Collaborates with Outreach Coordinator to ensure efficiency
• Coordinates schools, groups, individuals
• Food Handlers Certification
• Ensuring meals are prepared and ready for large groups of people
• Ability to work with vulnerable people
• Non-profit background – preferable
• First Aid
• Class G Driver’s License
• Clean Driving Record
Qualifications
• Excellent leadership skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Excellent verbal and communication skills including E-Mail program
• Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals
• Ability to delegate all required tasks to volunteers
• Ability to interact with clients and de-escalate situations
• Culinary experience is an asset
• Working in a non-profit setting
• Able to work in and see over a fast paced program
Education
• College Certificate is preferred, but not mandatory
Hours
• Full Time Position – 40 hours per week
• Work hours – 7:00-3:00 Monday to Friday and/or occasional weekends
Compensation
• Hourly wage to be determined
• Compensation is established as part of annual performance review
