Production Assembler/Worker
Job Description
VRE Systems is a family-owned manufacturing company providing products and services to the retail garden centre, horticultural, greenhouse and agricultural industries. We manufacture products such as various types of curtain systems, roll up walls, monorail systems, fabrics, transportation carts, as well as food and pharmaceutical products.
Overview
A production assembler / worker is a position that involves creating finished products and/or part assembly of metal products and other related merchandise items through the use of various hand tools and or machinery.
This role is part of a team and team members may be assigned to differing products or multiple order fulfillment depending on size of client orders.
Notable Responsibilities and Expectations
- Receive products into the facility, count, defect, storage
- Aid in stock control, cycle counts
- Receive daily work and ad hoc work instructions from supervisor and or management
- Pick / retrieve product quantity per order
- Assemble and pack product per specifications ready for shipping
- Utilize all working areas in a clean, tidy and safe manor
- Ream or clean galvanized product, sand or spray paint items
- Verify products for quality assurance purposes, no sharp edges or rust
- Keep track of and report damaged or lost items to supervisor
- Repair defective or damaged materials, within scope
- Ensure all Workplace health and safety guidelines are followed at all times
- Some general maintenance work as required
- Aid in other business areas as may be required
- Aid in area hygiene cleaning and stock put away in a safe orderly manner
- Operate machinery and tools to effectively create the finished product
- Ensure all equipment is utilized in a safe manor, cleaned and stored correctly
- Work to all health and safety, workplace regulations
- Utilize all appropriate safety equipment, ear, eyes, gloves, and clothing are worn

A good Production assembler / worker candidate will be able to seamlessly infiltrate the workflow and create quality work through excellent craftsmanship. They will have some of the following skills & traits:
- Hardworking
- A team player
- Forklift license, counterbalance & Zero Turn an asset
- Hand tools, electric and air drills, grinders and manual banding equipment knowledge
- Some carpentry skills are advantageous, skid building and packing
- Use of table top and or hand saws experience
- Literate with both metric, imperial measurements and basic calculations
- Ability to work on own orders, and assist other team members as required
- Respects shift operation times
- Understands safety regulations and applies them daily
- Flexible approach to work levels
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Is very detail-oriented
- First aid skills is an advantage
Experience Requirements
At least 1 year prior experience in construction or manufacturing factory environment is preferred for a Production Assembler/ Worker. They will learn on-the-job, but practical experience using hand tools and or machinery, or working as part of an order production line, will prepare the applicant for this role. General labourers already have a basic understanding of how to manage the workflow.
Production Assembler / Worker education and training requirements
Candidates are expected to have a secondary school diploma. There is no formal certification required, with exception to forklift certification, but any certifications in construction / metal trades, apprenticeship or as a general Labourer are considered an asset. On-the-job training is available for the Production Assembler/ Worker position.
Environment
- Ability to manually, safely lift 40lbs
- Physically fit, standing, bending for longer period of time
- Ability to work in a load plant & assembly areas, internal and external in all seasons
- Working hours 7am- 4pm Monday to Friday
- Full drivers license and reliable transportation due to location
