COVID and Community Safety Screener – 6 Month Contract (Multiple Positions)

Our Mission: Indwell is a Christian charity that creates affordable housing communities that support people seeking health, wellness and belonging.
Position Description: Working in Indwell’s supported affordable housing, the COVID Active Screener and Community Safety Management position works to ensure safety protocols are being met at the point of entry, as well as the safety and security of the building, and the tenants.
Hours of Work: 24 to 36 hours per week. Available shifts: Saturdays and Sundays 9 pm – 9 am; Monday to Friday 10 pm- 6 am. These are 6 month contract positions, with the potential for extension based on the status of the pandemic and staffing needs.
Duties for this position include:
Monitoring the entrance of the building for visitors; ensuring they are authorized to enter.
Contacting internal or external resources in the event of a risk to tenants or staff.
Asking visitors the COVID screening questions.
Requesting visitors to sign in for contact tracing purposes.
Ensuring visitors are wearing a mask and sanitizing their hands before entering the building.
Cleaning and sanitizing all bathrooms mid-shift, sanitization of high touch areas
Doing walkthroughs of the building ensuring all entrances are closed and locked, ensuring no unwanted individuals are sleeping in stairwells, or people are being disruptive in hallways
Addressing any noise complaints
Supportive conversation and activities with the residents.
Reminding tenants to wear masks (correctly), to sanitize their hands and to practice social distancing.
Supporting permanent staff with housing support tasks
Reporting and documenting activities occurring on shift so that day staff can follow up with tenants and their support services.
Requirements & Prerequisites
Skills: The successful candidate should demonstrate a warm, sensitive and caring approach, flexibility, organization, initiative, and the ability to work independently. The ability to use sound judgment under pressure is essential. They must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Education/Experience: Minimum High School diploma. Priority given to those with post-secondary education in the social services and/or residential experience.
