Part Time Cook
Job Description
– Developing well-balanced menus, considering the importance of ensuring foods served represent the diverse culture of the children in attendance
– Understanding and awareness of food allergies and special medical and dietary requirements of children who attend the program
– Posting menus in a location that is visible to families; ensure any changes to the menu are noted immediately
– Preparing grocery and supply lists based on planned menus; ordering/purchase grocery and kitchen supplies, based on approved budget
– Cooking/preparing meals and snacks according to Canada’s Food Guide (Daily)
– Maintaining a clean, sanitary and organized kitchen
– Maintaining a work environment that meets/exceeds all requirements from the Public Health department
– Developing a positive working relationship with children, their families, and other staff members
– Providing support to educators in the classrooms, as needed
– Attending staff meetings, workshops and training as required
Requirements & Prerequisites
– High School Diploma
– Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
– Safe Food Handling Certification
– 1 – 2 years of food service experience, preferably cooking for large groups
– Standard First Aid and CPR – Level C – Certificate
