Since 1972, Employment Hamilton (EH) has been delivering employment and training services to clients and employers. Funded by Employment Ontario, EH offers employment counselling, a Resource and Information Centre, Better Jobs Ontario, and a range of other programs and services.

We are seeking an outgoing, resourceful, and empathetic individual who enjoys working with a diverse clientele. The ideal candidate is a strong team player, skilled listener, and effective communicator—both written and verbal.


Key Responsibilities

Retention Coordination

  • Manage all clients in the retention program, supporting their job retention and overall success toward one year of sustained employment.

  • Maintain accurate records in Excel to track participants over a 12-month retention period using data from FCC software.

  • Contact clients regularly via phone, text, and email to verify employment status, collect pay stubs, and assess ongoing support needs.

  • Track and issue financial support requests in accordance with procedures.

  • Identify and help resolve personal or social challenges clients may face during employment, including making appropriate referrals and consulting with Employment Counsellors.

  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry and reporting.

  • Verify data accuracy through various reports and meet funder-determined targets.

  • Participate in continuous improvement by analyzing strategies and results.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Occasionally assist visitors in the Resource Centre with job search activities (e.g. resume writing, online applications, labour market info).

  • Support the team with additional duties as needed.

  • Provide back-up support for reception: answering phones, booking appointments, and making reminder calls.

  • Contribute ideas and communicate effectively in a team setting to help achieve positive client outcomes.

  • Apply strong judgment, creativity, and problem-solving in daily responsibilities.


Qualifications

  • Ability to successfully and professionally carry out the responsibilities listed above.

  • Outgoing, resourceful, and genuinely interested in helping others.

  • Strong knowledge or willingness to learn about AODA, Employment Standards, and Human Rights legislation.

  • Excellent client service and motivational skills.

  • Effective written and verbal communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and communicate with a diverse clientele.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills for tracking and reporting data.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Accuracy in documenting and maintaining records and data systems.

  • Technical proficiency with PCs and printers, including basic troubleshooting.


Work Schedule

This is a full-time position that includes two evenings and Saturdays.
Approximate schedule:

  • Tuesday: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Thursday: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
    (Includes a one-hour unpaid lunch. Occasional flexibility in scheduling may be available.)


Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: $900 weekly, with performance review after a 4-month probationary period.

  • Comprehensive, employer-paid benefits package available after 4 months.
